We tend to quickly overlook the small things in life because we are taught to focus on the bigger picture, the more outstanding things, the overarching concepts. I initially had taken this class because it’s a prerequisite for further architecture classes that I was planning to take. Architecture is a new found interest for me and only recently had I wanted to incorporate these classes into my schedule. After taking this class, it has definitely solidified my interest and wanting to pursue it further. I loved how we focused on individual elements through our assignments and in our final projects, had to pull all of it together. My favorite project was the pavilions. Trying to build a structure, realistic or not, really peaked my imagination and inspired me to get as creative as possible. I realized it’s hard for me to be given a project without strict or rigid instructions, but this class really taught me to experiment and “play” around and try as many ideas as possible because you never know where it will lead you. The fundamental elements we learned and practiced are absolutely essential to designing, building, and creating from scratch. It taught me to link creativity with functionality. Another favorite project of mine was the fingerprint 3D model because even though mine was extremely time consuming I was so proud of how it came out after. It’s something I would have never considered but I incorporated texture throughout. This class peaked my interest beyond STEM and it inspired me to try new things.
